The Student Reps of Mozilla Philippines played an essential role in the local community’s success this year. Since its ‘soft’ relaunch last 2011 by Mozilla, Filipino Mozilla Reps have been actively recruiting students through Campus Tours, MozCoffees, Open Web Days and other events like Y4IT and Software Freedom Day.
To date, there are 135 sign-ups from 40 universities/colleges including the University of the Philippines, De La Salle University in Manila and Ateneo de Zamboanga in the south. Pamantasan Ng Cabuyao has the biggest number of volunteers with 23, followed by Colegio de San Juan de Letran – Calamba with 15 and Westmead International School with 8. These students are involved in promoting The Mozilla Mission in their schools and also online. Aside from spreading the word in their campuses, they are also participating in Firefox support via Twitter, localization of Firefox to Tagalog, and Webmaker.
September and August had the most number of sign-ups due to the nationwide, week-long celebration of Software Freedom Day.
Over the next months, we will be holding more awesome events and continue evangelizing hopefully breaking this record. There are so much cool stuffs in store and we need you to be part of it. So sign up now and be counted! http://studentreps.mozillaph.org
(We would like also to take this opportunity to thank our active Student Reps for their contributions. You guys rock!)
