In celebration of the women’s month, the Mozilla Philippines Community organized the second installment of the Mozilla PH social media series, Women in Social Media last March 22 at Palet Express in Makati City.
We started with our Community Manager, Eusebio Barrun, introducing Mozilla and our local community.
He explained what the Mozilla mission is, facts about Mozilla communities and how they can contact us if they are interested to be part of it.
Afterwards, I introduced the Women and Mozilla initiative and how I continued to get involved with Mozilla despite feeling intimidate being the first girl in the group.
It is Mozilla’s mission to promote openness, innovation and opportunity on the Web and nowadays, social media plays a big role in achieving these goals with the booming number of users throughout the years. Women in Social Media aims to gather women who are involved with social media, whether as a profession or as a casual users, to get to know other women who share the same interest and hear from speakers who are experts in social media.
Our first speaker for that afternoon was Ms. Lace Llanora who talked about the Five Ways Women Can Use Social Media to Their Advantage.
Ms. Lace discussed how women can use social media to build their personal brand, share their personal story, to listen, build meaningful connections and to find opportunities.
She also gave a lucky participant some goodies!
After Ms. Lace’s talk, we had Ms. Joy Taglefor Blogging 101
Ms. Joy gave an overview of some of the most popular blogging platforms, including their advantages and disadvantages. She also included blogging tips fit for the new and veteran bloggers alike.
Last but definitely not the least, we had Ms. Kei San Pablo talk about the basics of Search Engine Optimization. Who knows that SEO is just as easy as A-B-C? That’s how Ms. Kei described the most important factors that social media affects the Search Engine Ranking Page.
After finishing the talks and having answered the questions from the participants, we gave our tokens of appreciation to our speakers who shared their expertise on the topic.
Thanks to our speakers and attendees at the event! See you again soon!
