To end our women’s month celebration, we had a fun day of all-girl webmaking at Palet Express in Makati!
We had Firefox cookies c/o Chip’n’Chew to those who are at the venue early enough to get one while it lasts.
We started off with fellow Mozilla Rep Bob Reyes introducing Mozilla and the Mozilla Philippines Community.
Afterwards, I introduced Mozilla’s initiative to empower women in the field of technology, WoMoz!
Fellow Rep Ryan Ermita then introduced Mozilla’s education initiative, Mozilla Webmaker. He proceeded on explaining the tools and learning resources one can find in Webmaker to help them learn more about making something on the Web. He first explained how one can browse through the Webmaker teaching kits for studying at your own pace and how to proceed on hacking via Thimble. He also demonstrated how to use the Xray Goggles to know what web pages are built of. Ryan also showed how one can easily edit videos online using Popcorn maker.
After it the facilitators helped the participants get started with the Webmaker tools by making something using Thimble.
It was definitely a fun afternoon of webmaking with the ladies! Thanks to all the girls who joined us in this event and for the men of Mozilla PH who helped us learn how to create awesome things on the Web!
