For the very first time, Team Mozilla Philippines Community (MozillaPH) staged a Firefox OS Workshop in the Visayas. MozillaPH received an invitation to visit the Asian College of Technology (ACT) in Cebu City to conduct a MozTour and a Firefox OS Workshop to their students held earlier today.
A team from MozillaPH composed of Bob Reyes (Mozilla Rep — ReMo Lead), Kim Domanog (ReMo Speaker, Documentarist), Ryan Ermita (ReMo Speaker & Workshop Facilitator), Tina Verbo (ReMo Speaker & Workshop Facilitator) and Kristian Lugtu (FSA Spealer & Workshop Facilitator) head some 500 kilometers south of Manila for this event. The team arrived in Cebu the night before of the event (we factored in travel, flight delays, etc.).
The MozTour and Firefox OS Workshop was held in a huge Computer Laboratory with a capacity of more than 100 seats.
The workshop started with Bob giving an overview of what the Mozilla Philippines Community is currently doing in the country, including introductions to products and service offerings of the organization.
Mozilla Rep Ryan Ermita then gave an overview of Firefox OS, giving a walk-through of the mobile Operating System’s features and how easy it is to create apps for it.
Firefox Student Ambassador Kristian Lugtu discussed Responsive Design, a must if you want to develop apps for any mobile platform.
The Firefox Marketplace was tackled in Mozilla Rep Tina Verbo’s talk.
The workshop was capped with a talk on Firefox Student Ambassadors program from Mozilla Rep Kemuel Joseph Domanog.
