February was indeed a busy month for the MozPH team as we had days which we had more than one event! Last February 21 for instance, the team split up to hold a MozTour in Bacolod and another one in Cavite City. I was with the Cavite team.
For the first time, the Mozilla Philippines Community set foot in the historical province of Cavite by holding a MozTour at San Sebastian College- Recoletos de Cavite in Cavite City. In this team was Mozilla Rep Ryan, FSA Fate and I. Ryan and I were the speakers for the event and Fate handled the logistics that we needed.
The students were mostly freshmen and sophomore IT students.
We started with an introduction to Mozilla, where I talked about the mission, projects and products. I also informed them of what we do at the Mozilla Philippines Community and how they can join us in promoting the open Web, especially as Firefox Student Ambassadors! As of the event, the school already has a Club Lead and is working on establishing the club in their school.
To test if the students are listening intently especially in an hour that is very near lunchtime, we had a quiz contest and prize is a neat Firefox OS shirt!
After my introduction to Mozilla, Ryan discussed the Webmaker project, Firefox OS and dev tools from Mozilla.
Active students who asked questions were also given prizes!
Thanks to SSCR for inviting us to their school! Thank you to FSA Rein Bautista for setting this up for us!
