The first quarter of the year for students must be greatly focused on academics as most schools end their academic year on March, but this didn’t stop the FSAs in the Philippines from holding and joining community events!
Last January, the team headed to Central Luzon, where we set foot in Gapan, Nueva Ecija for the first time to hold a MozTour at AIE Gapan. MozPH also held its first Open House, where we had a lot of student attendees who would like to know more about the FSA program.
In February, we had a lot of simultaneous events that the MozPH team had to split up to accommodate them all. To start the month, some Firefox Club Leads gathered to plan about the future of the FSA program in the Philippines. The next week, to make the most of the holiday due to the Chinese New Year, we held a public speaking workshop for the FSAs. On Feb. 21, the team went to Bacolod for a MozTour, while another smaller team went to Cavite to hold a MozTour at San Sebastian College Recoletos de Cavite. On the last day of February, we again hold two events simultaneously;Â one in Antipolo for a MozTour in University of Rizal System- Antipolo City and another in Manila for a MozTour and Maker Party at Far Eastern University- Manila.
Last March, we held a Maker Party Training for FSAs to teach them about the principles of Mozilla in teaching the Web and enable them to create their own Maker Parties in the future.
That’s the first quarter of 2015 for FSA and student outreach-related activities in the Philippines! We are looking forward to resume our student activities on the resumption of classes in June. We hope our students take a well-deserved break after a year of working hard!
