The Philippines is dubbed as the Social Media Capital of the World by many. Doubt no more, being from here, we can attest to that.
The Mozilla Philippines Community, being heavy users and believers of social media, joins the celebration of Social Media Day 2015 at the Museo Pambata in downtown Manila. The fourth time that Manila is hosting such festivity, and it will be the third time for MozillaPH to be part of it. With the theme #ChangePH, this edition of Social Media Day is dubbed as a global “must-attend” event by no less than Mashable — main proponents of the event worldwide.
Carrying the hashtag and theme #ChangePH, the day-long event featured an expo by participating communities and brands, and also a conference that highlighted milestones and trends in social media and the growing digital space.
TweetUpMNL co-founder Rosario Juan thanked the communities, partner-brands and volunteers for making Social Media Day “the biggest community-driven, 100-percent volunteer-run social media event in the Philippines for four straight years now.”
Juan said “the power of community, collaboration and cooperation could really make many things possible, including Social Media Day.”
Hundreds of attendees visited the MozillaPH booth and signed-up for our mailing list. A Twitter and Facebook contest ran all throughout the day; winners brought home awesome Firefox swags and prizes from Cherry Mobile, who brought the country’s first Firefox OS device. Some of those who went to our booth had questions about Firefox (desktop and Android), ranging from installation to usage to technical concerns.
