These guidelines aim to ensure a fair, transparent, and inclusive election process for the Mozilla Philippines Council, allowing qualified individuals to contribute to the governance and advancement of the Mozilla community in the Philippines.
- Eligibility Criteria:
- To run for a position on the Mozilla Philippines Core, individuals must be actively involved in the Mozilla Philippines community.
- He/She can be described as any of the following:
- A member of the Mozilla Philippines Community Facebook Group, Mozilla Community Portal, or MozillaPH Slack.
- Someone who regularly attends the in-person and online activities of MozillaPH.
- Someone who contributes to the localization (L10n) efforts of the community.
- Someone who actively promotes the use of Mozilla products and services by helping other users.
- Someone who believes in the power of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).
- A former Firefox Student Ambassador or Mozilla Representative.
- Nomination Process:
- Individuals interested in running for a position on the MozillaPH Core must either be nominated by another member of the MozillaPH community or they may opt to self-nominate themselves.
- Nominations should include a brief statement outlining the nominee’s qualifications and contributions to the Mozilla community.
- Candidate Acceptance:
- Nominees must accept their nomination to officially become candidates for the MozillaPH Core.
- Acceptance of the nomination indicates the nominee’s willingness to serve on the council if elected.
- Election Process:
- The election process will be conducted according to the guidelines provided by the MozillaPH leadership.
- Details regarding the voting procedure, timeline, and voting eligibility will be communicated to the MozillaPH community prior to the election.
- Diversity and Inclusion:
- In alignment with the governance structure, at least one female-at-birth member should be elected to the MozillaPH Core Members group to promote diversity and inclusion.
- Candidates and voters are encouraged to consider diversity and inclusion when participating in the election process.
- Campaigning:
- Candidates are allowed to campaign for their candidacy within the MozillaPH community.
- Campaigning should adhere to the principles of respect, integrity, and inclusivity.
- Transparency:
- The election process will be transparent, with updates provided to the MozillaPH community as necessary.
- Any concerns or disputes regarding the election process will be addressed openly and fairly by the MozillaPH leadership.
- Commitment to Mozilla’s Mission:
- Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to Mozilla’s mission of promoting an open and accessible internet for all.
- Elected council members are expected to actively contribute to the advancement of Mozilla’s goals within the Philippines and globally.
- Community Engagement:
- Candidates are encouraged to engage with the MozillaPH community, listen to their concerns and ideas, and communicate their vision for the future of Mozilla in the Philippines.
- Term Limits and Responsibilities:
- Elected council members will serve for a specified term, as determined by the MozillaPH leadership.
- Council members are responsible for representing the interests of the MozillaPH community, participating in council meetings, and collaborating with other members to achieve community goals.
